Kindle 2 can’t upgrade to the latest firmware version?

0

I inherited a Kindle 2 from a friend of mine these days, after checking on the internet, I found that the latest firmware version is 2.5.3, obvious my Kindle 2 is using an older version of firmware.

So I connected my Kindle 2 to WiFi, waited for several days, still haven’t received the 2.5.3 firmware OTA.

Then I searched for an alternative solution, I manually downloaded the firmware .bin file and put it in Kindle’s specific folder, but the firmware upgrade option is still unavailable.

So what am I doing wrong?

I am not sure what on earth is going on, however, I guess it’s related with a news which happened in February 2017, Amazon discontinued support for 1st and 2nd generation of Kindle. You can search related news on Google for more information.
